Indonesian coal production first quarter of 2014 reach 100 million tons   May 14, 2014 reported  that coal production in the first quarter of 2014 reached  100 million tons. Production is down from the performance in the same period last year amounted to 105 million tons .

Director General of Mineral and Coal , Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources ( ESDM ) , R. Sukhyar said , although the achievement somewhat lower than last year . But the production has met quarterly targets .

The government ‘s own target of coal production in 2014 amounted to 421 million tons in the upper limit , and 326 million tonnes at the lower limit . ” So it meets the target quarter , though still down compared to 2013.  But production targets still remain , ” said Sukhyar in Jakarta , Wednesday ( 14/05/2014 ) .

Meanwhile , the price of coal up to now , still continues to fluctuate . In fact the trend is decreasing. He recorded the highest price of coal is in the range of U.S. $ 68 per ton , and at the lowest level of U.S. $ 19 per ton .

Though coal to produce a ton of coal employers need to issue a cost of U.S. $ 25-30 per ton . Because of the costs and the price of coal today , triggering some coal companies have ceased production .

” The price is below the cost of production , low prices forced the company to halt production time ago , ” he said .

However , the government is optimistic that prices will increase in line with the world’s energy needs . As for the coal market still like the old days , such as ASEAN , India , China . ” The market is still dominant in the region , ” he said .
